ROLAND PARK RENOVATION

This interior home renovation aimed to rejuvenate an outdated and segmented classic Roland Park end-unit townhouse, built in 1915 and last renovated in 1998. The talented design team at Revolve embraced the client's desire for a light, bright, family-friendly space, skillfully blending classic and modern elements to create a truly unique result.

A dramatic reconfiguration of the first floor included a reimagined layout with modern upgrades. We not only refreshed the finishes, fixtures, and appliances throughout the house but also reconfigured the layout to better fit the client’s lifestyle. This involved removing the wall that separated the kitchen from the rest of the house to maximize natural light, creating a practical and convenient cooking area, reallocating storage, adding a large island that houses hidden storage and offers spacious bar seating, establishing a designated dining space, saving room for a children’s play area, providing privacy for a first-floor half-bath, and enhancing openings to improve circulation flow. The kitchen is now the focal point of the first floor and truly the heart of the home.

By moving walls, Revolve created a new skylight-filled butler’s pantry with a refrigerated bar, a dry-goods pantry, custom cabinetry and storage drawers, a powder room, and access to the spacious deck.

Furthermore, Revolve Design created a new transition zone from outside to inside at the front door, featuring custom cabinetry, storage drawers, and bench seating. This area provides crucial storage for shoes, jackets, and backpacks and seamlessly blends with the house’s aesthetic.

On the second floor, we focused on updating and expanding the existing primary bedroom, creating a spa-like en suite bathroom, and building an entirely new full bathroom while maintaining storage for linens, towels, and more. We also added features to improve the upstairs living experience.

The hardwood floors were stained and refinished throughout the first floor.
